My Sanctuary at Pleasure Point
I grew up in Houston, Texas but moved to Atlanta, Georgia after college and lived there for nearly 25 years. When I started consulting, I became a road warrior and traveled all over the country spending extended time working on projects in various cities often thinking I might really enjoy living there. However, I always returned to Atlanta. I really liked Atlanta… until I didn’t.
When Atlanta suddenly became unbearable and intolerable, I bought a place in the Golden Isles on the Georgia coast and used it as a retreat, but loved it so much that I decided to move there full-time.

I continued to work and travel and enjoyed visiting cities that were vibrant and alive but coming home to Pleasure Point felt like a vacation every weekend.
After I retired, I was sitting in my back yard enjoying the peace and quiet and natural beauty and realized that it had so much more potential. I’ve never really been into gardening but drew inspiration from my grandfather (who was an avid gardener) and pictures of my travels to tropical destinations and resorts that always had such beautiful landscaping. So, I got to work planning, designing, digging, planting, and toiling in the summer heat. It has since become one of my favorite artistic endeavors.
Here is how the back yard looked when I bought the place:

And here is how it looks now after a couple years of work:

It has indeed required some effort but is totally worth it to live in my own little paradise and be able to share it with others. Here is a photo gallery of my yard and garden:
In addition, I have amazing views from my back door which are stunning and require no effort whatsoever. Here is a gallery of those photos:
